Brustkrebs-studien.de (BKS) is an online service provided by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Senologie (DGS) and offers German patients valuable information about breast cancer, clinical trials and the possibility to look for available clinical trials.
Breast cancer guide
Detailed information about breast cancer, risk factors, early detection, diagnosis, disease staging, treatment options, etc. An online audio book is also available, with information from time of diagnosis to after-care.
Clinical studies guide
Offering the patients information about clinical trials, design of clinical trials, participation in clinical trials and also a participant‘s rights and obligations.
Study search
Unique tools for the patient offering the possibility to look for open clinical breast cancer trials.
Result of cooperation
A lot of resources been invested to improve the services offered by the BKS and this has been done in a cooperative partnership between the DGS and EviMed. In order to improve the functionality and benefits of the BKS, central functions of the new version, launched in June 2011, are based on the EviMed technology platform for recruitment and management of clinical trials.
Unique functions offered by the brustkrebs-studien.de to improve the quality of the patient recruitment for clinical trials:
- Possibility for patients to, in an easy-to-use way, actively search for information regarding clinical trials and find clinical trials that the patient could be eligible for
- Immediate verification of inclusion and exclusion criteria
- Improved way to for patients to directly inform the clinical trial coordinator of their interest to participate in a clinical trial
